Over 300% increase in bookings for Ethos Training

A Growing, Diverse Member Base

When the previous owner of their gym decided to sell, Matt and his partners saw an opportunity not just to take over the space but to build something truly their own. Launched in late 2020, Ethos Training transitioned from an open gym model to a Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) approach, centred around one powerful idea: community.

“We believe in community a lot and believe that that's a big force to deliver on our vision. We want to bring people together - people who want to train and have a good time doing it.”

Ethos Training's always been about keeping things fun and welcoming, which has built a really strong community vibe. It's more than just working out there - they offer excellent training plus they organise BBQs and fun competitions to get everyone involved. All from day 1. Ethos Training draws a diverse clientele, including students and young professionals from the local university.  Interestingly, there has also been a notable return of older adults, aged 40-50, to fitness programs following the pandemic. In recent months, their community has expanded to include competitive athletes with members now participating in events like HYROX and CrossFit competitions.

The Challenge:

Initially using another gym management software, Matt found that the platform’s complexity wasn’t aligned with their needs. The platform was difficult for members to navigate, and lacked flexibility. The management software, while perhaps powerful in some respects, proved overly complex for their specific requirements. The key challenge was that their previous gym software lacked the necessary flexibility that Ethos Training needed to tailor the platform to their unique workflow and business practices. 

“There was too much detail that was unnecessary. We weren’t using most of the marquee features.” 

The Solution:

In their search for an alternative, more intuitive gym management system, they came across LegitFit through social media and were instantly hooked with the branded app offering. 

“The branded app was a big win for us. It helped grow our brand and gave us a much cleaner, easier experience - both for us and our members.”

Switching to LegitFit gave them the ability to easily manage and change memberships, promote their timetable publicly and build a more professional, user-friendly experience that matched the standard they were delivering in person. Since joining LegitFit, Ethos Training has seen significant growth with a 384% increase in bookings and a 72% increase in revenue. The recent addition of LegitFit’s Programming feature has been the “icing on the cake.”

What’s Next?

The goal is simple: build the brand and bring more people into the community. Their vision extends beyond simply providing fitness services and they aim to establish Ethos Training as a recognised and trusted brand within Belfast. A key element of this vision involves reaching a wider audience and inviting more individuals to become a part of their unique community.
